TEMECULA VALLEY GARDEN CLUB- Community Projects
PENNY PINES- In partnership with National Garden Clubs, (NGC)
The Penny Pines program has contributed over $31,000 for national and
state forest reforestation. The Penny Pines program was started by a
group of women in San Francisco who raised money for reforestation in
the Trinity Mountains in Northern California after a devastating fire.  In
1940, the original cost of reforestation of 10 acres of 680 pine trees cost
a penny each or rather $68.00.  In conjunction with garden clubs in all 50
states (U.S.A.),many acres of trees have been replanted, which will
benefit our future air quality and soil retention.  Donations are accepted
at the door of each General Meeting.  You may donate $68.00 and have
that person's name memorialized on a plaque at various sites in the
Cleveland National Forest and/or for a donation of $10.00 you may
donate (1) one tree in someone's honor.

25th ANNIVERSARY FLOWER SHOW
"Seasons and Celebrations"

It is with great pleasure that the Temecula Valley Garden Club
presents our 25th Anniversary Flower Show, “Seasons and
Celebrations” which will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 1 -
2, 2010  from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Temecula Community
Recreation Center, 30875 Rancho Vista Road, Temecula, CA.
Admission is free.

This year our club is again partnering with the Temecula Valley
Rose Society to present a two-in-one garden extravaganza.  Not
only will visitors to our show enjoy the many horticultural, design,
youth and educational exhibits they have in past years but, they
will also be able to experience the fabulous TVRS rose show “A
Moment of Magic”.

Because we are staging our shows side by side at the Community
Recreation Center, all rose entries will be placed and judged in the
TVRS show.  All other entries will be placed and judged in the
TVGC flower show.  Visitors to the show are sure to be thrilled by
the number and variety of exhibits on display in both shows.  We
encourage entries from the community.  If you would like to
participate, please contact flower show chairman Susan Puma at
310-594-6972 for a copy of our flower show schedule which
details all the entry classes and rules.

In addition to the many exhibits we have included musical
entertainment provided by the Musicians Workshop, free
refreshments, an opportunity drawings, and plant sale. We are
also pleased to again have many handcrafted quilts on display
from the Valley Quilt Guild of Hemet to enhance our exhibits.

We wish to thank all Temecula Valley Garden Club and Temecula
Valley Rose Society members for their enthusiasm and tireless
effort in presenting such a wonderful event to our community.
And we also thank YOU, whether you are a potential exhibitor or
expectant guest, for your part in making the Temecula Valley
Garden Club Flower Show and Garden Fair the tremendous
success it surely will be.
